About OdiaFont — Crafting Beautiful Odia Typography
Odia is one of India’s classical languages, with a script whose rounded beauty deserves better than the handful of default fonts most software ships with. OdiaFont exists to fix that.
Who I am
I’m Biswajit Patra, an Odia font designer from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. I design, curate and maintain every font on this site — and I personally answer the WhatsApp support messages too.
Why I built this pack
For years, every Odia designer I knew had the same folder on their computer: a messy collection of font files gathered from CDs, WhatsApp forwards and long-dead download sites — half of them broken, most of them with no license anyone could name. Meanwhile, designers working in Hindi or English had beautiful, organised, properly licensed type libraries a click away.
Odisha’s designers, YouTubers, wedding card makers and photo studios deserved the same. So I built it: 88+ Odia fonts in one organised pack — direct-typing fonts that behave in PixelLab and CorelDRAW, Unicode fonts that behave everywhere else, and calligraphy styles worthy of a wedding card — plus 22 genuinely free fonts so anyone can start without paying a rupee.
Design philosophy
The Odia script has a personality — those round, flowing forms evolved from centuries of writing on palm leaves, where straight lines would split the leaf. My rule for every font in the collection is simple: modernise the presentation, never the soul. A good Odia display font can be bold, playful or sharp, but a reader in Berhampur should still feel it is unmistakably, comfortably Odia. Preserving that character in digital form — through correct matras, well-drawn conjuncts and balanced stroke weights — is the whole craft.
Real support, from a real designer
When you message the WhatsApp support line, you are not talking to a bot or a call centre — you’re talking to me. Font not installing in PixelLab? Matra breaking in Photoshop? Need advice pairing fonts for a wedding card? Send a screenshot and I’ll sort it out, usually the same day. That promise is the part of this project I’m most proud of.
